Hi we from Peicai Secondary School. This is Johnson , Siraj , Brendan .We are asking some questions about the Low Birth rate in Singapore? Our job is to investigate the low birth rate in Singapore
Armed the questions and papers to take down essential notes,we headed down to nex , followed by ang mo kio hub
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Studies conducted by experts and scientist about low birth rate have proven that the questions that baffle the community sometimes really has the most simplest of answers:later marriages, fewer marriages and preference for smaller families.Due to the fact that women are rising in the economy, upsurping positions that men once took and are of undeniable importance to our volatile society, there is little doubt that many women have a preference to pursue a job first before actual settling down.Despite many women cannot conceive at the age of 50 and above, those who marry later have a lower or no chance at all to have children and that is one of the vital contributing factor to low birthrate.A handful of people in society choose the"single life"option and they have an absolutely reasonable answer or answers in this case: the increasing prices of school fees, the absolutely ludicrous money spent on clothings and the soaring prices of tuition fees. These are the contributing factors that increases the influence of fewer marriages and incidentally also contributes to the spoiled choice of the preference of smaller families as well. With these problems plaguing our beloved land and country, the youth community has been decreasing rapidly in the last few years. The proportions of the youth community is unable to counter Singapore's greying population and replace the deceased due to the fact that there are more families in our country with only 1or 2 or 3 childrenMETHODOLOGY
We interviewed a remarkable number of citizens, six to be exact, and inquired what people walking on the streets would not usually inquire about and our interview begins at the libarary in NEX{serangoon}and at AMK HUB in Singapore. On our quest for anwers, we have to "THICKEN OUR SKIN". It was a good exerience as it was our first time interviewing pedestrians.
RESULT&ANALYSIS
Out of the six people interviewed, four were already married, two had not got married. The one who didn't want to get married said that she wants to concentrate on her career and expenses is too expensive and she did not have enough money to have a baby.
The First interviewer...........
She answered " I am married"
'The government courage to have more baby to be born."
She continue.."More childcare to look after baby and if you take a maid she might not be trained to do "Childcare".She believe in contraceptives. She said that baby expenses very expensive. As Singapore is an educated country.
The second interviewer........
She answered," i am married"."The government should increase baby bonus so that people can have more babies if they want to..."She also said she like children alot. She would like to have more children, she do not believe in contraceptives."
The third interviewer........
She answered,"I am married'."She have three children and she said that it was enough."
"She said between Singapore and Phillipines,Phillipines have cheaper expenses for baby."
"In Phillipines is easier to enroll her children in school if you have a job.And school fees is much cheaper than Singapore."
The fourth interviewer.......
She answered,"She is currently pregnant, she also said she want more children." "She valued family."She think Singapore expenses is quite expensive.
The fifth interviewer.........
He answered" I not married."He say in Singapore is hard to have children as Singapore
giving pressure like expenses is too high....He said he hope to have children as they can pass down the family line.He say if Singapore expenses is cheaper he might get a wife an have many children.
The sixth interviewer.......
She answered "i am not married"She say i want to focus on my career cause career can earn more money. As one person expenses is cheaper when with no family. She say is best being single no need to worry about the expenses of a baby like go school, transportation and food.
Conclusion
As a result of all this tedious questioning and unorthodox answers,we have arrived at an astonishing and simply complicated conclusion.Singaporeans want to have more children but they cannot afford it.And therefore, they have less children. And to be honest, I don't understand this what is going on in our minds!!!We want more children but haven't the money for them.I don't understand this.
